What is Gig Harbor known for?

Gig Harbor is known for its scenic waterfront, maritime heritage, and views of Mount Rainier on clear days. Historic netsheds, working fishing boats, locally owned shops, and waterfront dining create a destination where you can explore at your own pace. Gig Harbor. A World Apart.

What are the best things to do in Gig Harbor?

Explore the waterfront, paddle the harbor, browse local boutiques and galleries, or settle in for a meal overlooking the water. Beyond downtown, discover forest trails, neighborhood parks, and more shopping and dining in Uptown and Gig Harbor North. Visit our Explore page to start planning.

How do I get to Gig Harbor?

Gig Harbor is located across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge from Tacoma. From Seattle or Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, take Interstate 5 south to State Route 16 west. From Bremerton and the Kitsap Peninsula, follow State Route 16 east. Allow extra travel time during peak commute hours.

When is the best time to visit Gig Harbor?

The best time depends on your idea of an escape. Plan a summer visit for time on the water and outdoor events, or choose fall and winter for a leisurely getaway centered on dining, shopping, arts, and culture. Spring offers another reason to get outdoors and explore. Check the events calendar to find experiences that match your interests.

How many days should I spend in Gig Harbor?

We recommend at least two nights so you have time to enjoy the waterfront, explore local shops, and add a boat outing or forest walk without rushing. Staying longer gives you room to discover the surrounding Key Peninsula and enjoy a little more unplanned time by the harbor.
